Activities at iSimangaliso Wetland Park in St Lucia: Seeing whales on Cape Vidal beach
The main attraction of St Lucia is the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. This wetland is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Cape Vidal beach at the end of the dunes is just sumptuous. You can walk there for half a day and like us have a picnic on the beach. You will almost certainly be there on your own and you can take a leap into the Indian Ocean much warmer than Cape water!

Hippopotamus cruise in the St. Lucia estuary
To end the day, the ideal is to book a estuary cruise to see the very many hippopotamuses. It is one of the flagship activities of St Lucia. Boats leave regularly from the small port for a tour of about an hour. It is best to take the cruise at the end of the day to enjoy the sunset. The photos we took are really great.
Last tip... If you go out into town with the car at night, be careful because hippos often cross the roads!
