There is so much to do in Plettenberg Bay that we decided to list our favorite activities below. Whether it's a day of relaxation, sport or family, there is something for all ages and all tastes!
Consulting : Before starting the day, we recommend a brunch at a French baker at Bakehouse (for those who crave French bread and croissants!). If you are staying for several days, we also really enjoyed having brunch at the Bungalow by the beach and also at Old house which has a nice store attached to the little restaurant.
The best relaxation activities in Plettenberg Bay in South Africa: beach by the sea or in the lagoon
Enjoy beautiful beaches from the region by basking in the warm lagoon water or by the seaside. You are on vacation after all! If you haven't visited it yet, the beach in Robberg National Park is fantastic (see our guide here). Otherwise, another pearl to see is the Keurboomstrand beach. Walk along the seashore on the left until you come to a lagoon that flows into the ocean. It is a beautiful place often deserted because tourists stay on the main beach. At the end of the day you can book a massage in the best spa in town at 'The Plettenberg Hotel'!
The best sports activities in Plettenberg Bay in South Africa: canoeing, surfing and canyoning
If you enjoyed doing canoe in the Wilderness, you can also go up the pretty Keurbooms river here during the day. Camino cape kayak offers morning excursions at sea and even multi-day excursions to discover all the hidden corners of this region. If you are less athletic, you can also go up the river by ferry !
For the more adventurous, you can canyoning ou of the reminder in the heights of the valley with AfriCanyon. Personally, we loved rappelling the waterfalls and it remains a memorable memory of our stay!
For surfers, you will enjoy the beautiful waves of the different spots on the coast. Inquire with local surf school so they can tell you which spots have the best conditions for the day.

Best Plettenberg Bay Activities for Kids: Encountering Animals
If you have children, you can visit Birds of Eden, monkey land et Jukani where you will respectively see exotic birds, monkeys of all kinds and jungle animals. We had a good laugh when we met some macaques! The kids are sure to have a great day. For the little ones, there is also Plett Puzzle Park (a theme park).
The best discovery activities in Plettenberg Bay: Old Nick's craft or township tour
To buy gifts or souvenirs, there is no better thanOld nick village. It is a small cluster of pretty houses where potters, jewelers, and all other forms of art and craft have settled. They are known in the region for their fabrics that they make themselves (you can visit the weavers' workshop with the vintage machines). If you wish, you also have the possibility to visit the township which borders the city with the organization Qolweni Township Tours.
Discover the magic of phosphorescent plankton in the Plettenberg Bay lagoon in South Africa
As soon as it gets dark, go in a swimsuit to the Plettenberg lagoon. If you are lucky, you will see phosphorescent plankton. It appears when the water is moving so swim or soak your feet to activate it. As soon as a fish moves it leaves a trail of light behind it! It's a rare and magical phenomenon that you won't soon forget so it's definitely worth a try!
Consulting : You can wait for the sun to set at Lookout Deck. It is a very nice bar restaurant on the lagoon beach with a breathtaking view of the bay.
