The 4 Best Addo Elephant Park Hotels in South Africa

Addo Elephant Park is the most beautiful and famous park in Southern South Africa. It is also the only safari on the Garden Route. Admittedly, this reserve is smaller than the Kruger but it is much less touristy. An African pearl just for you! The park is home to a large population of elephants, but that's not all. If you are lucky you will see a lion or even a leopard! You can visit Addo by self-tour on the day by following Our recommendations or choose the guided tours offered by the reserve. In terms of accommodation, the best is to be as close as possible to the national park because most of the animals come out very early in the morning (or in the evening at sunset). The best is to book a chalet directly in the reserve to start your safari at dawn, but this privilege comes at a cost… We have therefore listed you best hotels in Addo Elephant Park in South Africa so you can find a room that fits your budget.

We chose to sleep at the guest house in Zuurberg Mountain Village which is located right at the entrance to Addo Elephant National Park and it was a very good strategic choice that we highly recommend. Perched on the heights, the guest house offers a breathtaking view of the South African reserve! In addition, it is the best value hotel in the vicinity of Addo Elephant Park. The chalets for rent are comfortable, inexpensive and have a very nice swimming pool surrounded by a manicured lawn which is often visited by monkeys. If you want to treat yourself to an exceptional night for a honeymoon or other trip, then we recommend the prestige of staying directly IN the reserve. The best luxury hotel in the national park Addo Elephant is straight out of the movie 'Souvenirs d'Afrique' (also known as 'Out of Africa'). Gorah Elephant Camp is simply magical: you sleep in a luxurious tent in the middle of the savannah near a water point very frequented by wild animals. When you wake up, elephants pass in front of you… You pinch yourself every 3 seconds because you are sure to be in a dream that takes place in 1900! If there is one lodge that looks like all the images we have of discovering Africa, this is it. If you can afford it, go for it. This is sure to be your best memory from the trip to South Africa and you will keep memories of this unforgettable experience for the rest of your life!

Namely : The price is high but everything is included: meals, drinks and even trips in the lodge's Jeeps with their guides who are mines of knowledge and who make you visit the South African reserve in VIP mode.

They are ideal for a family safari. In addition, guided 4 × 4 trips are allowed for children, which is not often the case in private lodges in South Africa. Island Vibe Jeffreys Bay hotel: the best hostel near Addo Elephant Park in South Africa

There is unfortunately (or luckily) no hostel near Addo Elephant Park in South Africa. The closest town is Port Elizabeth but we don't recommend staying there. Jeffreys Bay on the other hand is just a little further but the city is much nicer (you can read our article on Jeffreys Bay must-see activities). The best youth hostel from the east corner Island Vibe Jeffreys Bay. It is served by the Baz Bus and offers day trips to visit Addo Elephant Park. This is the best tip for a cheap safari. Located by the sea, the backpacker attracts many surfers and you can even take surf lessons on site. The atmosphere is great and we enjoyed the evenings on the beach. As for the rooms, they are clean and offer a beautiful view of the ocean. No complaints.

Our tips for a successful trip:

  • Book your flight in advance to take advantage of the best prices

Airline ticket prices are cheaper when booked 6 to 3 months in advance. To be sure of getting the best price, we recommend using a flight comparator such as Skyscanner.

  • Book your accommodation before departure to have access to the best offers

You will always find a room at the last minute, but the best located accommodations are necessarily those that are always full. That's why it's best to book your accommodations as soon as possible. We recommend going through Agoda which offers the best prices. In addition, this site allows you to be easily reimbursed in the event of cancellation.

  • Skip the line to visit the most popular attractions

By booking your excursions in advance on Civitatis, you do not queue on site to get your tickets. Less time waiting = more time enjoying your vacation! Plus, their guided tours ensure you have a knowledgeable guide who speaks your language.

  • Use a comparator to find a rental car at the lowest price

Save yourself hours of research with rentalcar.com ou discovercars.com. These comparators are the best for finding rental cars at the lowest prices.

  • Don't leave without travel insurance

For us, it is unimaginable to leave without travel insurance. We recommend the one proposed by AXIS. This is the best guaranteed way to leave with peace of mind. However, consider taking out additional specialized insurance for activities not covered (such as skiing or scuba diving).
