1. Winchester Mansions: the iconic dream hotel on the Sea Point promenade in Cape Town
Winchester Mansions is the must-see seaside promenade dream hotel of the Sea Point district, whether or not you stay here, we recommend that you enjoy a drink on their patio to watch the sunset over the ocean. The location of this boutique hotel is just perfect: it combines magnificent sea views, quick access to Clifton and Camps Bay beaches while being a 5 minute drive from the town center. You will find many bars, cafes and restaurants on the main axis of the district behind the hotel. The Sea Point promenade, directly opposite, runs along the sea to the municipal swimming pool. We recommend that you do your morning jog there with the locals and like them end up with a jump in the pool at the end of the track. This charming hotel also offers a superb swimming pool and an open-air patio always full of flowers where you can have your breakfast (if you are there on a Sunday, breakfast turns into brunch with live jazz: we highly recommend it!) . The rooms are comfortable and those facing the sea have a fantastic view.
most : The red tourist buses that go around Cape Town have a stop right in front of the hotel.Check availability
2. Camps Bay Retreat: Cape Town's best dream hotel surrounded by jungle
If the title is confused, this is normal. Camps Bay Retreat is very special because it is a luxurious mansion surrounded by a huge garden that looks a lot like a jungle. All located between Cape Town and Camps Bay, therefore in an urban area! The places are very relaxing, facing the ocean and surrounded by lush vegetation. A real contrast with the buzz of the city. You can walk to the beach in 2 minutes and you are in Cape Town city center in less than 5 minutes by car. Camps Bay's lively restaurants and bars are also within walking distance in just a few minutes. A true haven of peace in the middle of the city which earned him the title of Cape Town's best dream hotel in South Africa.
most : They have an elevated massage room in a safari tent in the middle of their "jungle". Just wonderful.Check availability
3. Pod: the most design dream hotel to stay in Cape Town in South Africa
Under is also located in Camps Bay near the beach and less than 5 minutes by car from Cape Town. This ultra design hotel is very contemporary with a minimalist decoration. There is no doubt the most design dream hotel to stay in Cape Town in South Africa.Check availability
4. Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel: Cape Town's most iconic dream hotel in South Africa
Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel is Cape Town's most iconic dream hotel. It has been welcoming the greats of this world since 1899 (John Lennon, Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, etc…) and it was painted pink to celebrate the end of the First World War. Since then, this British colonial hotel has always kept its luxury and panache. This Cape Town institution is located in the heart of the city with a pedestrian access overlooking the Company Garden (a park that joins a lot of museums and whose restaurant in its center is worth the trip) and direct access to Kloof Street (the main street liveliest in Cape Town with many bars and restaurants). But once you pass its gate, you enter a green oasis right in the city center! Its swimming pool is certainly the best in Cape Town with a beautiful view of Table Mountain and absolute calm. In short, the best of the best. We advise you, even if you are not a resident, to enjoy their famous high tea (the English snack) at the end of the afternoon. It is absolutely delicious.Check availability
5. Cape Grace: the best dream hotel in Cape Town's Waterfront area
Cape Grace is the best dream hotel the Waterfront has to offer. It is the place to be if you are looking for top-of-the-line services, magnificent views of Table Mountain, absolute security and pedestrian access to Cape Town's best shopping. The 5-star hotel is surrounded by a harbor of sailboats and yachts as well as a dry dock for repairing ships. You can walk safely in the ultra-guarded Waterfront complex and enjoy all its shops, bars, restaurants and attractions (Ferris wheel, cruises, Springboks museum, helicopter tour of the Cape Peninsula, etc ...) .
most : The hotel has the best whiskey bar in Cape Town on the ground floor.Check availability
6. Ellerman House in Bantry Bay: the crème de la crème of Cape Town's dream hotels

The rooms have a large terrace and even a private swimming pool. Paradise in South Africa.Check availability
7. Steenberg Farm: the best dream hotel in Tokai and Constantia in Cape Town
Behind Table Mountain and right next to the Kristenbosch Botanical Garden are the Tokai and Constantia districts. These are the wine districts of Cape Town. Their vines stretch on the slopes of Table Mountain and they have a wine route accessible from Cape Town in just 15 minutes (smaller than that of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek but with equally famous vineyards). Steenberg Farm is one of these very well-known estates (their wines are in the top 10 in South Africa). They opened a magnificent dream hotel on their property (regularly elected in the best hotels in Africa) but also one of the best restaurants in South Africa. If you want to be surrounded by vineyards, in a superb environment, with delicious wines and dishes, then run and book your room here!Check availability
8. The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa: the best dream hotel to relax in Cape Town
The Twelve Apostles Hotel is located on the coast between Cape Town and Hout Bay. You are 15 minutes from Cape Town by car or 5 minutes by helicopter from the Waterfront. Yes, because they can arrange a helicopter to bring you into town! This 5 star hotel is very secluded and there is no one to disturb you. You can enjoy the sunset over the ocean from their pool or bar. The view is beautiful. But the specificity of the hotel is its spa: it is the best dream hotel with a spa center in Cape Town. Even if you do not sleep on site, we recommend that you book their treatment for the day or half a day. This is the best way to relax during your vacation.Check availability
9. Aquila Private Game Reserve: the best dream hotel for a safari in Cape Town
If you don't have the time, money, or the inclination to go all the way to Kruger National Park or Addo Elephant Park, there is only one option left for you to go on a safari in South Africa. South: Aquila Private Game Reserve. Located 2 hours drive from Cape Town, it is the easiest private reserve to access for tourists in the region. We recommend that you sleep there to make the most of the animals rather than going back and forth during the day (it's tiring). In the evening, elephants, giraffes, zebras and gazelles come to drink at a water point near the lodge. You can watch them while sipping a mojito from your patio! During the day you have the choice between excursions in 4 × 4, quads or on horseback. At the end of the afternoon, you can relax in their infinity pool with a view of the savannah. It doesn't take more to make this lodge the best dream hotel for a Cape Safari.Check availability

The best dream hotels in Saint Lucia in South Africa
1. Thonga Beach Lodge: the best dream hotel in Saint Lucia, South Africa
Thonga Beach Lodge has the privilege of being located inside iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and main attraction of St Lucia (this privilege comes at a rather high price but all meals are included) . The place is quiet and isolated in nature. To get there, the only option is to take the hotel's 4 × 4 which picks you up and takes you to the heart of the national park along a superb sandy track next to the huge beach. Once you arrive, you discover a corner of paradise cut off from the modern world. This is the best dream hotel in the region from very far away. And it is also part of the top accommodation in South Africa. These luxurious cabins are extremely romantic. Perched in the trees, they all have a terrace with a magnificent view of the ocean from where you can observe whales. We would like to live there… In addition, their very wild and always deserted private beach is accessible in 30 seconds and you can snorkel there to admire the seabed filled with fish. The lucky ones may even see a turtle laying these eggs in the white sand. Here, it is not so rare! If you are diving, this hotel offers sea trips to Sodwana Bay which is South Africa's best diving spot. It also offers many activities such as kayaking or 4 × 4 in the park. When you come back in the evening, don't miss out on a massage. They are just amazing!

2. Thanda Safari Lodge: take a safari in Hluhluwe-Umfolozi in the best dream hotel in the park
If you chose to do the Kruger without a private reserve (or if you made a private reserve at the Kruger and loved it!), Then why not indulge in a private reserve at Hluhluwe-Umfolozi? We recommend you Thanda Safari Lodge. It's the best of the best (with the price that follows, of course…). The private reserve was even voted the best hotel in Africa at the World Travel Awards. The principle is the same as in the Kruger: the reserve has its own animals which live in total freedom in a large park of 14 hectares. You have a better chance of seeing the Big 000 here than in the national park. This is definitely the only way to see cheetahs unless you are extremely lucky… Plus the rangers are very informative and friendly. The price includes all meals with drinks (very good gastronomy with fine products morning, noon and night!) And two 5-hour jeep safaris (at dawn and late afternoon) with aperitif in the bush ! In the hottest of the day, you can lounge in your (huge) villa which has a private swimming pool and a free mini bar… In winter, the fireplace is lit in each villa and board games like Scrabble or Monopoly are available . In the evening you can relax in the spa with a massage or have a drink on the terrace in front of the small pond where many animals come to be satisfied. In short, the dream! After a day full of memories, you can recharge your batteries in your luxury room in the middle of nature and wake up in a magnificent setting with a view of the savannah in the early morning… Just unforgettable. Do we need to say more to convince you that this lodge is the best dream hotel in the park ?Check availability

Johannesburg's best dream hotels in South Africa
1. Pablo's House: our favorite for the best dream boutique hotel in Johannesburg
Pablo's House is THE best dream boutique hotel in Johannesburg and even the best accommodation in town (for us). The hotel is located in the heart of Melville. This is our favorite neighborhood because it is trendy, safe and central (Constitution Hill, Apartheid Museum, Maboneng or Rosebank Mall are only a maximum of 15 minutes away). Next door to this boutique hotel you have access to plenty of delicious restaurants (we loved 'NCW' and 'the little house'), trendy bars, hipster cafes, vintage shops, etc. Dream is built on the highest point in Melville, offering magnificent panoramic views from your room's balcony or the restaurant terrace (which makes fantastic wood-fired pizzas). Tastefully decorated in a contemporary style, the design of the rooms is superb. We literally fell in love with this establishment. The photos speak for themselves… With a swimming pool surrounded by greenery, a bar, a restaurant and spa treatments, we are closer to a luxury hotel than to a boutique hotel… The best is that you pay a little more than a B&B, but much less than a hotel that offers the same quality of service. At these prices, it's a really good deal! The service is excellent, the staff very friendly, the atmosphere calm and the rooms nickels (they even have Netflix!).
PS: Book quickly because they only have 8 rooms!Check availability
2. The Winston and Clico Boutique Hotel: Johannesburg's best dream hotels in South Africa
The Winston Hotel
The Winston Hotel is located in Melrose, an upscale area of Johannesburg known for its boutiques and commercial streets. This is the perfect place for shopping! Inside this luxurious boutique hotel, everything is perfect: the swimming pool, the decor, the service, the restaurant on the patio… It is an oasis of calm in the middle of the city. During our visit, we were lucky: the manager gave us the room for the honeymoons without asking for anything! Suffice to say that we were surprised but above all very happy! Our three nights in this 5 star hotel were truly magical. It is for us the best dream hotel in Johannesburg and we highly recommend it to anyone who wants to have a special time.
The plus: the breakfast is excellent (especially their shakshuka).Check availability
Clico Boutique Hotel
If The Winston Hotel is fully booked, we recommend Clico Boutique Hotel located in Rosebank (another posh neighborhood of Johannesburg). The hotel is also a 5 star so you don't have to worry about the quality of the accommodation! The decor is quaint and the rooms luxurious. Everything is done to make you feel pampered. You can book with your eyes closed.Check availability
3. Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff and Saxon Hotel: the top dream hotels in Johannesburg
Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff and Saxon Hotel have a great chance of being off budget if you are not a celebrity… Much more expensive than the 5 star hotels proposed above, those are the two most prestigious dream hotels in Johannesburg. We tell you right away, we have never been there but we are talking about it here because their reputation is well established: in Johannesburg everyone knows these two luxurious hotels. The Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff is the most famous because it is the residence of stars when they come to shoot films in South Africa. Saxon Hotel he is known because it was the residence of Nelson Mandela and he wrote his autobiography there 'Long Walk to Freedom'(which we advise you to read before or during your trip to South Africa). If they are in your prices, then don't hesitate a second to book!

Tintswalo at Boulders: Cape Peninsula's Best Dream Hotel
Tintswalo at Boulders is located just minutes from the center of Simon's Town and just above the penguin colony of Boulders National Park. This extremely advantageous location allows you to have the best possible view of these animals. We recommend that you do as we did and get up early for a chance to swim next to them on the adjacent beach before tourists arrive (it is considered one of the best beaches in Cape Town). It is an experience that you will not have elsewhere! As for accommodation, it is a boutique hotel offering an exceptional quality of service. The rooms are very comfortable and tastefully decorated. In addition, they have a magnificent panoramic view of the ocean and the mountains. If the water in Cape Town is too cold, you will find a swimming pool on the roof top of this charming hotel. Of course to take advantage of all these advantages, the price is much more expensive than the rest of our recommendations near Muizenberg. But if it fits in your budget, then go ahead and sleep in the best dream boutique hotel on the Cape Peninsula.Check availability

Once you have passed through the doors of the 5-star hotel, you can admire its beautiful decoration with its patio and fireplace. You can swim in the heated swimming pool or in the large barrel which serves as a jacuzzi. In short, the best of the best for a perfect stay in a magical place.Check availability
4. Boschendal Cottages: the best dream B&B to sleep in a South African vineyard
To find accommodation on the South African wine route, we think there is even better than the charm of Franschhoek or the entertainment of Stellenbosch. There is the beauty and tranquility of a vineyard. Many wine estates offer rooms and the best guest house of them is by far Boschendal Cottages. This vineyard, which dates from the 17th century, offers the most authentic experience of the wine route. Everything you eat or drink here comes from their organic farm. In addition, you have the chance to sleep in an exceptional place surrounded by vineyards. The view of the mountains and the valley from the terrace is breathtaking. The small studios for rent are located in period buildings built according to Dutch architecture (Cape Dutch style). But rest assured, the interior has been tastefully renovated. Regarding the activities, as you are in a vineyard, you can visit the estate and their wine tasting! They also offer horseback riding and mountain bike tours. In short, it is the ideal choice to isolate yourself far from the city.Check availability

Nestled in the middle of the South African wine route and surrounded by vineyards, this 5-star hotel is considered the best and most beautiful in the region. Combining the period architecture of the buildings with a contemporary decoration, the design of the estate is magnificent. Many tourists make the trip to visit their gardens, their organic farm or to taste their wines as the place is fantastic. If you do not sleep there, we advise you to eat at noon in their brasserie 'Greenhouse' located in a greenhouse in the gardens. Here, everything is homemade with more than 300 products from their farm. The interior of the rooms can only please you with a huge bathroom and a soft bed. It is ideal for all lovers and those on their honeymoon ... In addition, guests can enjoy the indoor and outdoor swimming pools and the spa, always at the top of design and quality. In the evening, you can eat on site in their Babel restaurant which is one of the best in South Africa. However, reservations open two months in advance as there is so much demand ...

Lion Sands River Lodge - Sabi Sand is part of the top 3 of the best dream hotels offering private safaris to South Africa's Kruger National Park. We recommend it because it is cheaper than Royal Malewane for a service that is always very upscale: massage at the top of a tree with a panoramic view of the savannah, starred meal under the stars, room with bathtub overlooking the points of water where bush animals drink, etc. The list would be too long to finish. WARNING : All these luxurious lodges are in great demand but have very few rooms. It is therefore advisable to book well in advance.
Our opinion between dream hotels on private reserves and those on the main reserve
If you can afford it, we recommend that you stay on a private reserve for two days. This is warranty to see all the animals in no time. Discovering the Kruger National Parc in luxury safari mode is a magical experience that we wish everyone ... That said, discovering the immensity of the park by going on a self-drive safari is also a special adventure (see our tour recommendation in our two articles'The best route to visit Kruger National Park day 1/2'and'The best route to visit Kruger National Park day 2/2'). Having done both, we recommend that all travelers divide their time at the Kruger in half :
If you have 2 days in the park, do one day on your own and the other on a private reserve. If you have 3 days at the Kruger, do 2 days in private reserve and 1 day on your own (or vice versa if your budget does not allow it).
